Diesel tuning has been around a long time, with many methods of achieving extra performance from a diesel engine.
The method of choice is now heading more & more towards tuning boxes. These are plug & play systems, that give a really genuine performance increase.
The new diesel tuning boxes are becoming more advanced & work with digital microprocessor technology. This means it can be programmed to work on the car it will be going on.
The tuning boxes work by intercepting the signal sent by the common rail sensor to the ECU. The tuning box will amend the signal and send it to the ECU instead. This forces the ECU electronic control unit to adjust its systems accordingly, based on the new signal received.
This results in an increase in power & torque, making the car much smoother and nicer to drive.
On top of this, the increase in torque means that you can achieve the same speeds & the same driving conditions, with less revs & gear changes.
Therefore you get a better fuel economy from the engine as well.
This double edged sword set up, makes it worth investing in a tuning set up.
